I'm not sure about you but I hate having to spend 1-2 hours a week JUST to clean my pool. I didn't want to hire a pool man so I didn't know what else I could do.
However, after hearing about some automatic pool cleaners and testing a few out, I settled on the one that is truly the best. Not only does it save me a ton of time, but it is very affordable - especially for something that will clean for years.
This Hayward Poolvergnuegen Review was written to provide quality and honest information. There are a ton of different pool, but the Hayward Poolvergnuegen is one of the best ones available. I'm not the only one who thinks so -- there are many customers on Amazon who agree!
This makes sense given Hayward's long track record of successful pool product and the company's ability to keep improving their pool products. The Poolvernuegen is one of their best suction pool cleaners yet (click here to see other top rated suction pool cleaners).
In Depth Review
Initial Set Up
First, understand that the Hayward Poolvernuegen uses suction. Like any other one, it requires that your pool has a suction side port.
If your pool has a pool pump then it will be able to deliver a much more powerful clean, but it will still clean great without the pump. It might not be as hassle free as some robotic pool cleaners, but it's about as easy as it gets for a suction pool cleaner.
Out of the box it's great - easy to set up, and there aren't a lot of parts to put together like other pool vacuums. Even with a larger pool you won't really need to order extra parts (like extra hose length) to be able to effectively clean your pool unless you have a really large pool (more than 40 feet).

Definitely order from Amazon because it has fast shipping, and they work with the companies that provide the products to ensure that there is a high level of integrity and customer support. Best of all, you can see many other reviews on this product -- who doesn't like reviews?
Overall, set up was especially easy for suction pool cleaner. You'll still have to connect it to the pressure side port of the pool and make a few adjustments (such as the weight on the hose) to get it running PERFECTLY, but it's still an easy process that doesn't require a lot of time and energy.
Cleaning Ability: Types of Debris
This Poolverneugen is not great at picking up sand and dirt. If you have a lot because you live in the desert or other areas with a lot of fine particles and want them cleaned up then this pool machine is not for you. This is really the only big con.
A smaller con is that leaves can occasionally create some clogs. If this of any concern you should definitely consider getting the line leaf canister so that it can better clean and filter out leaves. Otherwise you'll have to watch the cleaner more carefully in case it gets backed up by leaves.
Line leaf canister:
Don't worry about it if you only have really small leaves or no leaves at all, but if you do get some leaves in your pool then the the cheap price is a GREAT investment.
Even though it won't be able to get all of the sand and other fine particles in the pool, it does extremely well with algae. Even though it comes with no brushes the Hayward Poolvernuegen is able to effectively get rid of algae through pure suction.
Fortunately, it is much better at bigger debris items like pebbles, rocks, and leaves as long as you get the line leaf canister (seriously, the BEST add on). Of course, it won't pick up any extremely large rocks or items that you wouldn't expect it to, but it typically picks up everything in the pool though sometimes it may miss some rocks.
Even with the occasional miss you can count on the Poolvernuegen to get the items on the next run. I've never had to clean the pool myself or take out rocks/sticks because of a build up, which means that if it doesn't get it the first time then it will get it the next which is what a swimming pool cleaner should do.
All in all, this awesome Hayward swimming pool vacuum doesn't miss a lot of debris, and you can count on it to get everything (other than the fine particles like we mentioned and maybe leaves if you didn't get the leaf canister).
The only thing you might have to do is measure its PH balance, but there are NO pool cleaners that will be able to do that for you anyway!
Cleaning Ability: Pool Shapes, Sizes, Materials
What I liked about it is that the Poolvernuegen is able to handle a variety of different pools. The proprietary adjustable roller skit allows the cleaner to easily maintain suction against uneven surfaces, making it perfect for a variety of pool types.
While we recommend the 2 wheel make sure that if you have a longer pool (35 feet or more) that you get the Hayward Poolvernuegen 4x (4 wheels) since it will have an easier time carrying the additional hosing.
Regarding shape, the it doesn't get stuck and is able to reach almost everywhere. It handles tricky curves well where others often fail. A big part of this is because it comes with pre programed internal steering sequences to make sure that the entire pool is really covered.
The other reason is because of the innovative 2 wheel design that ensures a smooth journey instead of traveling somewhat randomly due to the pool flow like what most suction pool cleaners do. The 2 wheel design helps the Poolvernuegen move around almost the entire pool with ease.
In fact, because of the Poolvergneugen's patented tire treads it is great at cleaning walls even though it wont always go up to the waterline (though that's not usually needed anyway). Some people may have problems with the cleaner sticking on the walls if there is weak suction, but the majority of people do not have this problem.
Unfortunately, it has some trouble with the steps. Some reviews are claiming that the cleaner does work on steps, but it was pretty rare for me. It doesn't even usually try to really go up the steps, which makes sense given its 2 wheel design.
I'm not sure how it would even be able to navigate the steps because of the wheels. Because of this of be prepared to brush them off occasionally. Fortunately, the steps are really the only area the Poolvernuegen misses consistently.
It may occasionally miss some places in the pool, but it's so infrequent and such small areas that it never requires additional cleaning because on the next clean the Poolvernuegen will be able to clean it. All in all, you'll never have to really lift a finger again to clean your pool.
I didn't get to see first hand it dying, but according to most other people it seems to easily last 4-5 years which is 1-2 years longer than other cleaners.
One nice thing is that there are few parts to it which means less chance of them breaking down and less of them to be worried about. I'm not sure about you, but I like not having to worry about my applications breaking!
With the nice 2 year warranty and an average price, the Hayward Poolvergnuegen will prove to be not only a great time saver, but also a great money saver (way cheaper than hiring an expensive pool man!).
Product Life Rating:
2 year warranty. Not the longest one out there, but it's much better than the normal 1 year warranty. The added protection definitely makes it a safer buy.
Full List of Pros and Cons
Pros: lasts long, effective clean, reaches almost everywhere, good for all the pools, easy to set up, great for large debris, 2 year warranty
Cons: doesn't clean steps, slightly noisy, requires a little bit of adjustment
Hayward Poolvergnuegen Review: Conclusion
You don't get better than the Hayward Poolvergnuegen. The best suction pool cleaner of them all, it has a lot of positive aspects with solid core functionality and few, pretty much ignorable cons.
The ONLY reason to not get this product is because your pool doesn't have a suction side port. Admittedly, another one might be that another swimming pool machines solves your specific's pool needs, but it is an amazing purchase that most people would benefit greatly from if they want a clean pool. Another good alternative is Hayward's Aquanaut.
All of this is at an average cost and a low maintenance set up.
