The Kreepy Krauly Racer is a high-tech pool cleaner that filters your pool. It is a super fast pressure-side cleaner suited for in-ground pools. However, if you want alternatives we also recommend some of the best swimming pool robot cleaners as well.
The cleaner has four venturis, a feature that trumps that of its counterparts, a large vacuum which increases the intake of debris by about 30%. The Kreepy Krauly is durable, easy to install and easy to adjust.
Things We Liked
- Very fast, 1-2 hour clean

Things We Didn't Like

A snap-on waste bag with a floater; the bag collects debris as the vacuum works its way around the pool. You don’t have to worry about emptying this bag as it is easily detached. A rotating scrubber is attached to the front of the cleaner, sweeps, and scrubs the corners, wall, and surfaces of your pool.
Wide tires and integrated LED lights, This pressure side pool cleaner has two wide front tires and two small back tires that have both traction and grip and together with the LED lights, gives this pool cleaner the look of an incredibly cool race car
Built-in auto-reverse cleaning; the vacuum backs itself out of a corner whenever it gets stuck
Large intake throat; The vacuum collects debris through the intake before depositing it in the waste bag.

The sleek design of the Kreepy Krauly Racer gives it ease of movement and enables it to cut through the water smoothly.
The vacuum can pick up just about any size of debris even from the deep end of your pool. It is great at climbing the walls and stairs in the pool while the wheels and body of the vacuum are quite close, so there's no chance of the feeding tube getting jammed. How well it climbs the pool stairs depends on the steepness of the slope and the water flow. The unit cleans at top speed and features an adjustable flow gauge to regulate the speed.
How it works
The Racer begins its cleaning cycle at one end of the pool, as it cleans, water that flows into the Kreepy krauly unit splits into the venturis, the sweeper tail, and the thrust jet. The sweeper tail, attached to the back of the unit, helps to get debris off the floor and wall of the pool and into the filter.
The thrust jet propels and directs the cleaner. Waste is sucked up into the debris bag through the venturi as the cleaner works its way around the pool. The built-in backup valve in the feed hose reverses the unit every few minutes to prevent it from being stuck and to change its cleaning pattern and direction while the rotating front scrubber sweeps and scrubs the cleaner rolls around the pool.
The Racer is the perfect pressure-side cleaner for you If you own an in-ground pool, own a booster pump, or simply want a fast unit. If you just need a pressure side pool cleaner with a race car design and LED lights to do your cleaning for you instead of a pool boy, this works pretty well too. How fast does it clean?
According to the manufacturer, the Pentair Racer is said to be 30% faster than other pressure side cleaners. But the problem is that for a standard pool size of 15' by 30', the Racer recommends a 1-hour cleaning cycle which is quite small for cleaning any pool thoroughly. Other pressure cleaners like the Polaris Vac Sweep 65 usually takes about 3-4 hours.
Who is it meant for?
This cleaner is suitable for you if you have a pool that is filled with leaves and seeds which can't be removed by normal suction side cleaners. If convenience is your thing as well and you like the idea of using an automated pool that saves you time and effort that would have been spent on a pool boy, then this suction side cleaner is good for you.
How well does it clear the pool?
The Pentair Kreepy Racer features a feed hose that is a bit bigger than what we are used to in suction side cleaners. There is an inlet opening which is large enough for sucking up leaves, twigs and even seed pods in your pool into the large debris bag. This bag stays upright during operation due to the flotation device. When it comes to picking up sand and dirt, the Racer uses a rotating front brush handles this efficiently, once the setting is adjusted to optimum speed.
The Pentair Kreepy Krauly Racer is a great pool cleaner. It's a top of the line product as most Pentair products are, and it really improves the Pentair Brand. The parts are fairly stable, it cleans the pool well, and it's pretty hands off.
