This Zodiac 6-130-00T cleaner is quite suitable for all above ground pools of up to 5-feet deep. This is not as deep as most of the pools being constructed in urban cities in America but it's an above ground pool, so we can understand why this is so.

How it works.

This pressure side cleaner uses pumps and filtration systems that are standard with above ground pools. It vacuums the bottom and the sides of the pool within minutes of being placed in the pool. It blows water against the pool wall with its patented jet sweep assembly in other to loosen the debris in difficult to reach areas and then sweep them into its filter bag which is easy to remove and clean.

Unlike robotic cleaners that you have to plug into a power socket, the Zodiac 6-130-00T Polaris is powered by the pressure of clean water returning to your pool leaving both the filter and skimmer free of contaminants flowing back into the water.

One of the most interesting features of this pressure side cleaner is the unique filter bag. This bag removes debris before it gets into your pump basket or filter, thereby extending the useful life of your filtrations system.

For customers who have an inlet pool especially for small sized pools, this pressure side cleaner works for inlet pool. The only problem that you might encounter will be on the connections. You might have to make your own connections from the water outlet vent since inlet uses a larger outlet than above ground pools.

When used on inlet metal frame pool, the Zodiac turtle will work tirelessly to pick up debris and leaves in the pool. Even if you have a pecan tree over the pool, this pressure side cleaner will remove the debris without clogging up the vacuum hose.

In other to maintain the Zodiac Turtle some of its parts need to be cleaned after each use.

The Filter Screen. This is the part that connects the pressure relief valve and the filter bag. It's in the Quick Disconnect section. You can clean it by pulling out the filter screen, rinse it and press it back into its place.

Before the filter screen, there is another component that is equally as important. The Filter bag needs to be cleaned on a regular basis as well.

To pull out the filter bag for cleaning, depress the buttons on the jet sweep assembly to release the bag. Then turn the filter bag inside-out to remove the debris from within the bag. Once this is done, you can open the frame and re-attach it back to base.

Backwashing the Filter

Backwashing is the process of reversing the flow of fluid through a filter in other to clean it. As dirt accumulates in your pool filter bed, resistance to flow will increase which will cause a reduction in the discharge of water to the pool.

The first thing to be done before you can backwash a filter is to turn off the pump.

Storage of the Polaris

The Zodiac Polaris as with most pressure side cleaners needs to be treated with care. It's not advisable for you to store in direct sunlight. During winter as well, make sure you drain out all the water.

Damage caused by the device being frozen is not covered by the warranty. The manufacturer also advises for removing the major components out of the Zodiac turtle after use. You will have to remove the sweep jet assembly connected to the sweep hose and lay it flat in the storage room. This is the best way to store a pressure side cleaner hose. All the fittings from the return lines should also be removed to prevent damage after use.

In other to backwash the pool filter of the Zodiac, you have to disconnect the Polaris first from the pool wall before backwashing is done. Once backwashing is complete, allow the filtration system to run for a minimum of five minutes in other to flush out the cleaned lines before re-connecting the filter back to the Polaris.

The Zodiac 6-130-00T Polaris Turbo Turtle Pressure Side Pool Cleaner promises a lot and it does fulfill most of them. We believe this pressure side cleaner's ability to prevent dirt from the skimmer as well as the ability to work on above ground pools and intel metal frame pools makes it a great addition for any pool owner. The issue of wear and tear, as well as durability, is one that no one should ignore as well. Why buy a product that will wear out after an extended period of usage. We recommend this product for its versatility, but you should buy with caution.
