When it comes to value it doesn't get better than the XtremepowerUS Pressure Side Pool Cleaner. Although it is one of the more affordable pool vacuums it doesn't show -- it'll leave your pool looking fresh and pristine and is just about everything you want in a cleaner.
It's actually one of the newest products on the market, but so far the buzz has been positive. People are liking this bang for your buck option because it will leave your pool sparking and immaculate but is also very affordable.
Sure, the clean may not be as complete as Polaris Vac Sweep 360 or the Pentair LL505G Kreepy Krauly Legend but it provides much more than half the clean for just half the cost.
It's easy to see why it's a great pick so read on to look at our complete review!
In Depth Review
Initial Set Up
The XtremepowerUS Pressure Side Pool Cleaner isn't the easiest to set up. It isn't the hardest either, but I personally really like an easy set up that requires minimal instruction.
It does require a pressure pump (it's in the name!), but also a booster pump.
If you do not have a booster pump then you either need to get one for the XremepowerUS or just look at a different pool vacuum.
It's so new that there aren't any videos to help show you how to set it up, so don't even try. There may be some by the end of 2016, but until then just look through the manual (it's good to do this anyway!). The manual provided pretty good instructions - just follow them carefully.
The rating would probably be higher if there were videos and other resources to help us set it up. However, because it is so new we just had to go through the manual.
Cleaning Ability: Types of Debris
This pressure pool vacuum specializes in being able to get rid of annoying small to medium debris.
It's not great with large debris so don't expect it to be able to handle those large rocks and twigs. If there is large debris it may occasionally get backed up so make sure to use your favorite pool skimmer and pool cleaning pool.
However, if you are looking to get rid of find sand or small leaves in the pool then this is a great option. With really strong surface coverage you can expect it all to be gone.
Unfortunately it isn't as good at getting algae because the pool wall coverage isn't as good as it is on the floor. However, it'll still be able to get most of it - it'll take a couple of cleans to make sure it gets it all.
Cleaning Ability: Pool Shapes, Sizes, Materials
The XtremepowerUS is easily able to cover the various pool types - concrete pools, fiberglass pools.
The only thing to keep in mind is that if your pool does not have a booster pump then you need to either get one or get another cleaner as it requires both a pressure pump and a booster pump.
Now, if you're still with me then I want to highlight one of the best features about this product - it very rarely stalls. This means that it will keep chugging along without need of manual intervention so you don't have to help move it along to keep cleaning.
With an awesome hose rotator system the chord will rarely get stuck so you do not have to go get the cleaner to manually fix it.
The wheel design means that it stays up right and won't get stuck. It won't be able to turn really tight corners, but it'll still provide a clean and sweep to the pool.
This pressure cleaner will work with large pools - you just have to make sure to purchase a longer hose because the default hose is only 31 feet which is fine for small to medium pools.
It's too new for anyone to have experienced the product dying out or failing, but for the few months it has been out there has been no need to replace any parts. This isn't saying much.
You can get a standard warranty for a year. I had heard you can also get 2 years, but I am not sure how to do that or if it is widely available.
Worst case the 1 year warranty is average, and best case at 2 years it is among the best warranties out there.
Full List of Pros and Cons
Pros: effective clean, cleans most types of pools, great with small to medium debris, rarely stalls, suction and sweep cleaning method
Cons: doesn't clean steps, doesn't deal well with large debris, requires booster pump
The XtremepowerUS is a pressure pool cleaner that is clearly the best value pick. It provides a solid consistent clean at a price that is just a little more than half the price of more powerful pressure pool vacuums.
It sticks to the basics, but it does it well. Don't expect bells and whistles or any fancy features - you'll have to look at some of the other cleaners we reviewed for that. But if you just have some basic needs then the very affordable XtremepowerUS may be for you.
